Cenote II is an extension of existing company headquarters. The building design considers multiple factors such as the surrounding environment with its hills and biotope, in addition to the fact that it is an addition to an existing complex of buildings. Cenote II juxtaposes its inner emptiness with the massive headquarter building next to it. This contrast reverses the inside-outside perception, generating a hybrid working environment.

In a park looking over the Lagoon, Venice's Casa dell'Ospitalità provides shelter for twenty men from among the 100+ homeless people who live in the Trust's various facilities. From the Casa dell'Ospitalità one's gaze takes in the sweep of the Northern Lagoon: abandoned islands, old industrial structures, the airport, the Ponte della Libertà, the outline of the mainland conurbation. You can sometimes be surprised by the wind suddenly freeing from the clouds the whole panorama of the Dolomites.
The Casa dell'Ospitalità is a port in a storm: it can be reached by specific routes but more often on unplanned and unpredictable tides.
During the Residence the artist will be a guest among our guests.
Will the intrinsic energy of art be able to trigger new dynamics and open up unexpected relationships with the men living in the San Alvise hostel?
Will it be able to introduce to a Venice oblivious of such a world this space suspended between water and sky and land, an ideal point from which to see ourselves, the city and the world with new eyes?
WHAT: Open Call for an Artist-in-Residence at Sant'Alvise. Venice
WHERE: Casa dell'Ospitalità (Hospitality House). A hostel for the homeless in Venice
RESIDENCE: From 18th of September until 4th of October 2015

The ground floor consists of wide open spaces to enjoy different purposes of the house. The use of large windows (5m high) and a glass roof (40 sqm) maximize the daylight and views. All private rooms open directly to this space.
The new bridge over the river Serchio arises in the outskirts of the city of Lucca, near great scenic interest areas and foothills. The structure’s impact on the river and surrounding meadow areas is limited, and its dramatic design has a very captivating image. Great attention has been paid to minimizing the impact of the connecting roads on the landscape, respecting the nature of the surrounding farmlands. The construction of the new roads and bridge will follow the latest environmental engineering techniques that reduce the use of building materials and promote the reuse of local materials of the site.

The architectural project is based on defining two areas do to the L shape of the building. The entrance and the offices are aligned along the longer side, while the meeting room and the classrooms are allocate down the shorter. The bar is the most liveable place where officemates can set up an informal meeting or where the trainers can relax a little bit and is strategically placed at the intersection of the two different areas. Roberto Corradini skillfully designed the lights combining the practical utility with dramatic scenarios.
